On the 13 of December Alan L. Guy 20 of Athens lost control of his car on Strouds Run Rd. Athens after driving onto black ice. Guy swurved numerous times across the roadway before driving off left side off road into ditch striking and breaking telephone pole. Guy had no passengers and was not injured. Guy was wearing seat belt. Telephone line was down across Strouds Run for several hours before Verizon came to fix it. Athens volunteer firefighters waited and guided traffic until Verizon arrived.

Shawna Anderson was traveling northeast on Kimberly Rd. near the Poston Elementary School when she lost control of the 2002 Dodge Neon she was driving. The roadways were quite icy and wet from the morning rain. Photos were taken of the damage to her grandmother’s vehicle which included the front grill, passenger side front and rear fenders, passenger side door, and rear bumper.

Lavonia Wollett was sitting in the passenger seat during this incident. Neither party was injured, however, Lavonia did advise her right leg was hurting from the impact. The vehicle had slid into the bank and ditch of Kimberly Road. There was no damage to any other property.

Alisha Tinkham reported that an unknown individual entered her residence and removed some of her jewelry and a case of her musical CD’s. She resides in Tomoko Tr. Ct.

Bernice Linscott age 96 DOB 7-13-1913 was found at approximately 1900 hours non-responsive in her bed at 19820 Lake Drive Trimble Ohio. .

Morrisons Funeral Home of Bishopville was contacted and took custody of the body.

The coroners office was advised of the Sheriff’s Office findings and this matter appears to be a death by natural causes.

Phillip Jordan states he is being harassed by his neighbor. ACSO has not been able to learn who his neighbor is and has not been able to make contact with the complainant. Mr. Jordan came to the ACSO and filled out a statement.

On 11-6-2009, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting event which occurred in Nelsonville Ohio at approximately 1800 hours. Timothy E. Carr age 53 of Jacksonville Ohio received what is believed through our investigation to be a self inflicted single gunshot wound to the head. Timothy Carr was transported via Life Flight to Grant Hospital and it was reported that he died at approximately 2200 hours due to these injuries.

Cheryl Smith stated she heard voices stating there was a fire at the next door neighbors. The fire department was called out. There was no fire. A family member advised Ms. Smith is mentally impaired and will be placed in a facility with supervision at the beginning of next month. Furthermore, Ms. Smith stated she would observe for herself to make sure there is a fire before calling 911, when she hears the voices again.

Troy Sorrell stated an unknown individual entered his mobile home at 7 Elm Street in The Plains sometime through the night of November 18th and removed several items.

Robert Lilly stated his live-in girlfriend broke a glass while they were at their house on N. Akron Street in Buchtel. They both own the house. She stated the dog broke the window. There were no threats of violence nor was there any physical altercations. This matter is civil. Case closed.

On 11-07-09 John Frazee was picked up for a warrant out of Athens County and was also cited for Driving Under Suspension.

On November 9, 2009 the Athens County Sheriff’s Office received a report from Athens High School that a juvenile at that location had information regarding possible explosives in a wooded area.  An interview was conducted with the youth with the permission of his parent and the youth showed Detective Jack Taylor of the Athens County Sheriff’s Office where this was.  Detective Taylor was shown a location on Carr Bailey Road about one mile from the intersection of Big Bailey Road and Carr Bailey Road.  This location was just off the roadway in a concrete building.  Detective Taylor entered into the building and located 19 cardboard boxes of what appeared to be dynamite.  At this time Detective Taylor backed out and contacted the Chauncey Dover Volunteer Fire Department and The Columbus Ohio Bomb Squad.  These organizations controlled the scene and the items located was disposed of by the Columbus Bomb Squad.
